COCO Hiroshima Hostel - is the only place I stayed in Hiroshima. In my Japan Trip, mostly I stayed in hostel for few times. I thought Hiroshima city is enough for only one day but turned out I was wrong. Maybe most of the people who is planning to stay in Hiroshima will do the same as me, stay in the Hiroshima city only for transit but their destination is Miyajima Island.
Overview COCO Hiroshima Hostel
If you’re planning a trip to Hiroshima and looking for a cozy, clean, women only hostel and conveniently located from Hiroshima Station, I highly recommend COCO Hiroshima Hostel. I paid this hostel for AU$45 per night.
Location
I arrived in Hiroshima Station by Shinkanshen around 2pm, the reason why I stayed here is mainly because of the location. Only 5 mins walking from Station. The check in time here is late around 4 pm. I was surprised, the hotel price in Hiroshima is higher than Osaka, that's why I choose to stay in this place for hostel price.
COCO Hiroshima Hostel is situated in a very convenient area — close to public transport, restaurants, and convenient store.
Atmosphere & Design
The vibe here is modern, minimalistic, and welcoming. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a calm, relaxing space for travelers. The common areas are tastefully decorated and perfect for socializing or unwinding after a long day. Do not imagine a big space of room, this place is a shared with the family.
Rooms
I stayed in a dorm room because that's the only room option available here. I was such a cultural shock for me how to stay in a hostel in Japan. Let me tell you, they will provide the bed sheet, pillow sheet and bed cover sheet, but you need to put it by yourself. Then you need to put it back in the laundry basket before checkout.
Facilities
Every thing here is a compact size including the facility rooms. They have shared kitchen, laundry room, 2 toilets and shower room. is fully equipped and perfect if you want to cook a simple meal or store some snacks. The only thing that not working for me is the wifi. There 16 beds in a room, I dont know where is the router but I am pretty sure they need to extend the router, I was staying in the very edge bed, It was very hard to get the wifi connection for me. I need to stand at the door, which was not very pleasant moment for me.
By the way the have service to storage your bags after checkout but you need to pay, to be honest it is expensive. I suggest you to storage your bags in a coin locker in the station if you plan going Miyajima Island.
Staff
The staff at COCO Hiroshima Hostel were incredibly friendly and helpful. They are family owner of the hostel. Whether it was checking in, asking for recommendations, or just chatting about travel, they made me feel right at home and really helpful.
Final Thoughts
COCO Hiroshima Hostel strikes the perfect balance between affordability, comfort, and style. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or even a small group, this hostel offers a warm and reliable base to explore Hiroshima.
